What are the kidneys and what do they do?

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, each about the size of a fist. They are located just below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine. Every day, the two kidneys filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood to produce about 1 to 2 quarts of urine, composed of wastes and extra fluid. The urine flows from the kidneys to the bladder through two thin tubes of muscle called ureters, one on each side of the bladder. The bladder stores urine. The muscles of the bladder wall remain relaxed while the bladder fills with urine. As the bladder fills to capacity, signals sent to the brain tell a person to find a toilet soon. When the bladder empties, urine flows out of the body through a tube called the urethra, located at the bottom of the bladder. In men the urethra is long, while in women it is short.

Embarassing Dark Patches on Face! Melasma, Lighten it Naturally!

Melasma, also known as, Chloasma or Hyperpigmentation, is a skin condition that causes an overproduction in melanin to occur in an area of skin causing irregular darker patches of skin to visibly appear. The discoloration typically covers different parts of the face including the cheeks, forehead, bridge of the nose, above the upper lip and chin. The condition typically appears in women ages 20 to 50 years old. The cause of melasma is not known; however, it is commonly associated with exposure to the sun, oral contraceptives and pregnancy.

Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common and one of the hardest to get rid of. There are plenty of different reasons for dark spots to show up on our face that have nothing to do with acne or a poor skin routine. Often, melasma is caused by the UVA rays from the sun which is why suncreen or natural protection from the sun is essential in our skincare. Even if you're diligent about your daily SPF, melasma can also occur from hormonal changes from pregnancy and birth control pills.

Several factors trigger the formation of dark patches on the face. Some of these include the following:
