Lighten and Brighten your Skin with these simple DIY!

If you have darker skin, it means your melanocytes produce more melanin. Sometimes, darker skin is not your natural skin color. It may get darken due to tanning resulting from exposure to sun rays. In fact, your skin color adapts to intense sunlight irradiation so that you get protection against the ultraviolet rays that can damage your skin. There can be many other causes for dark skin other than heredity and overexposure to sun. These may include environmental pollution, dry skin, stress, as well as prolonged usage of cosmetics having lots of chemicals in them. If your dark skin is not due to genetic reasons, you may take an attempt to lighten your skin with the help of these home remedies for skin lightening.

Antioxidants found in it help to fight off free radicals which can be a contributing factor to the darkening of the skin.
There are many ways through which tomatoes can be used for dark skin lightening. Cut some fresh tomatoes into circles and place the slices on the skin to be lightened. You could also rub the slices on the skin. Leave the juice to dry on the skin after which you wash it off. You could also grate the tomato to extract its pulp. Licorice Root Extract

This is a popularly used remedy for various skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Of late, the excellent properties of licorice as a skin lightening agent has been put to use by many cosmetic companies to make herbal skin lightening creams. These products use licorice root extract as an alternative to the harmful chemical hydroquinone. Licorice contains the active compound ‘glabridin’ which acts to inhibit the enzyme which causes skin to darken due to sun exposure. Glabridin also help decrease the production of melanin as well as in balancing the skin cells. Not only is the licorice extract an excellent natural skin lightening agent but it also helps diminish dark circles and other darkened skin due to scars etc. Because licorice also contains ‘licochalcone,’ an oil controlling agent, it is also good for those people who have oily or acne-prone skin and who want their skin to become white.
Get some licorice root and boil it. Allow this to cool before straining it. Apply the extract on the skin and leave it overnight. Or you can apply licorice powder mixed with rosewater.

Yogurt

Lactic acid is a known remedy for natural skin lightening. This acid is the most gentle alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Alpha hydroxy acids act as exfoliants by contributing in rapid shedding of dead skin cells on the surface. This leads to cell renewal which in turn removes dullness from your skin giving you a brightening effect. As a skin lightening agent, lactic acid helps bleach the hyper-pigmented skin by suppressing the production of melanin. Therefore, using yogurt loaded with lactic acid, makes sense when it comes to skin lightening with natural remedies.

When you consume PABA, it raises the level of Vitamin C in your body. Rice also has ferulic acid, an antioxidant, which when added to Vitamin C and E, provides you excellent protection against sun. A study conducted with rice bran extracts has proven its hydrating, skin lightening and anti aging effects on skin. Grind the rice to get its fine powder. Add enough milk/water to the fine rice powder to make a paste. Apply this rice powder paste. Leave for 20-30 minutes. Wash off with warm water. Repeat 2-3 times a week. Another method is while cooking rice when it is boiling; just drain some of the boiled water from rice into a bowl. Let it cool down and apply to face with cotton. It is not just give you amazing results with skin lightening but also tighten the pores, calm the inflammation caused by acne and help reducing acne scars.
